about me
I’m a lifelong learner who finds joy and connection through nature and animals. I strive to live intentionally, to find beauty around me and to be a compassionate human.
Life. It goes by in a blur. Each day filled with a long list of obligations, the urgent, the expected and sometimes un. With maybe a minute or two of “me” time. In a country of excess, time is one of the few things not found in abundance.
I’m now in a blessed phase of life where I have incredible freedom. Time to explore, evaluate, create and dream. When I learn something interesting, I’m eager to share. Whether it’s native plants or edibles in my forest garden, delicious sweet and savory eats, the benefits of botanicals, new places to explore, my latest building project, or anything random that I’m excited about, Dragonfly Dreams is the landing page for my eclectic thoughts. I hope you’ll enjoy learning with me!

Dragonfly dreams

Did you know that the stunningly beautiful and acrobatic dragonfly can eat hundred of insects, like pesky mosquitoes, every single day? It grabs its prey mid-flight, holding the victim with its legs and mouth before munching down while still in the air. On occasion, you might see these adaptable insects in an obelisk posture with their legs below them and their abdomen high in the air, like a handstand, in order to stay cool when the temps are high.
Dragonflies are small but mighty. They’re focused and active, and their skills benefit the humans around them. And of course, they’re gorgeous.
Some days, when my anxiety is fluttering in my head and feels like a physical vibration, or when my emotions are a bit too much to manage, I think of the dragonfly. I feel healthiest when I get outside and move my body. The thoughts that cycle though my brain on repeat begin to quiet when I focus my attention elsewhere. Thinking of ways I can show kindness to others helps me maintain a positive perspective on life. And it’s important to remind myself that, like the dragonfly, I am worthy and beautiful just as I am.
My sincerest thanks to Kristi Harris of S4lti Business for creating this incredible ‘Dragonfly Dreams’ logo. Kristi was able to take my very basic ideas and design a logo that was better than anything I could have imagined. The end product is beautiful and exudes the feeling I was hoping to portray. In addition to logo creation, Kristi is a very talented multi-media artist and an absolute joy to work with. Check her out if you’re looking for unique gift ideas or design work.
