dwell

Wherever you live, I hope it’s safe, comfortable and feels like a warm hug every time you come home. Not everyone is so blessed; and I never want to take my home for granted. We saved for years in order to be able to build our first home, and we absolutely loved it, both the building process and the gorgeous Craftsman home itself.

When the Pacific Northwest called to us, we found a fixer-upper home that was a disaster but had an amazing view. Built in the 70’s, complete with teal carpet and pink and green toilets, the subflooring was exposed, the gutters were so corroded rain water poured through, rodents were living all throughout the insulation, and everything leaked and creaked. We hired a general contractor to oversee the remodel, but I was intensely involved in the design and purchasing aspects; and I completed some of the work myself. Throughout the process, I learned a great deal and continue to teach myself basic carpentry and general repair skills.

Come along for the ride as I learn all about saws and joinery, stains and sanding, wood movement and more!
