Finding a lip balm that isn’t full of chemicals (we do ingest our lip balm, right?), doesn’t cost a fortune and actually works is a bit of a challenge. After a good bit of trial and error, I’ve finally found a homemade recipe that is easy and produces a lip balm that feels really, really good!

Sweet Orange Lip Balm
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon olive or hemp oil
- 2 tablespoons beeswax grated
- 2 teaspoons shea butter
- 6 – 8 drops Sweet Orange essential oil food grade
Instructions
- Add 1-2 cups water in a sauce pan over medium heat. Place a washcloth in the bottom of the pan (yes, in the water) and add a large glass measuring cup to the pan so that it sits on top of the washcloth. Note: you can use any double boil method you like but I have found this to be my favorite option.
- In the measuring cup, add the oils, beeswax and butter. Heat until melted; stir to combine.
- Remove from heat; cool slightly. Add essential oil and stir to combine.
- Slowly and carefully pour into storage containers. I like to reuse plastic tubs, tins or small glass jars. Allow to cool before capping. Enjoy! Your lips will thank you!
